Weeklong Vocal Workshop in Italy - Stage Vocale Italie
This summer we are going to Tuscany for a week of song! Tuscany, home of rolling hills, historic villages, art, good food and good wine!
This week long intensive workshop will take place in Querceto (http://win.association-marcopolo.org/FR/9-Querceto/pag1.html), a beautiful hamlet perched along the slopes of Mount Aneo in the commune of Montecatini Val Di Cecina (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montecatini_Val_di_Cecina).
The course consists of daily vocal and body training exercises, including dance, breath work, ear training, musical awareness activities (based on the work of John Stevens), improvisation, harmony and rhythm, scatting, confidence building and both group and an individual session of make up the week. All material is jazz-based.
Dare the unknown and find your creativity
You are advised to have at least one jazz standard to work on, the sheet music should be in your key. If you have problems finding something or transposing please let me know.
Course work to include:
Respiration exercises
Vocal Warmups
vocal exploratory games, discovery of new sounds and possibilities
Harmony and its role in melody
Ear Training
Understanding a Lead Sheet (simplified sheet music)
The couleurs of the voice, dynamics, tone
Rhythm exercises, including dance
Expressiveness, musicality, interpretation
individual work with my assistant and pianist David Sandes
Course materials will be sent to all participants. Materials needed: blank notebook, pencil, erasure, music paper, comfortable clothing.
Price of Course: 340 € accommodation (accommodation to be arranged directly with the Association Marco Polo, Accademia Libera) A deposit of 100 € is payable at the time of inscription, the rest 30 days before the start of the workshop, by check or bank transfer. (PLEASE NOTE, if you decide to cancel up to 30 days before the start of the summer workshop, a 50 € fee will be charged for administration, after tha 40 percent of fee will be retained. Please contact for precise informantion of refunds) Registration closes 2 weeks before star of course.

If you want to explore the region, or you go with a friend who wants to explore while you work, a car is advisable, possible even shared among the participants, but this of course needs to be arranged amongst yourselves.
