December 5th 2017, 17:30 until 21:00

Tis the season to be meeting...
So let's bring in the spirit of the season and meet over hot mulled wine at the Mannheim Christmas Market! This is actually a BASF event, but let's make it a general expat crowd! The more, the merrier :-)

Meeting Point: 17:30 in front of the Stadthaus Mannheim N1 at Mannheim Paradeplatz...

...and then we can slowly walk and eat our way up to the Kapuziner Planken and Wasserturm.

Mannheim’s Christmas market is one of Germany’s oldest, biggest and best, attracting many thousands of visitors each year. Many of the visitors are local, but some have traveled a considerable distance to enjoy the market.

The Mannheim Christmas market is centrally located, offering Christmas flair all around the historic water tower (Wasserturm) and right beside the equally historic Jugendstil gardens.

The glow and sparkle of lights and Christmas decorations, the scent of tasty seasonal food, and nostalgic Christmas music from the historic fairground organ all contribute to a special festive atmosphere.

Around 200 booths are lovingly decorated to look like little wooden houses where visitors will find a huge selection of gifts including handcrafts from all over the world, seasonal decorations and delicious food and drinks. There are carved wooden cribs, glassware, silver jewelry from Asia, African carvings made from coconut wood or ebony, woolen pullovers, socks and hats, cashmere scarves, sheepskin slippers, and much, much more. For children there are soft cuddly toys, wooden toys, building blocks and games. Christmas lights, lanterns, and candles as well as smoking wooden figures and aromatic oil lamps add to to the festive atmosphere.
