Sarah Hollis is the self-proclaimed Pack Mama: an animal lover that identifies as female and believes that her pets are fur kids. After relocating to Austria in 2020, Sarah and her husband have been creating weekly vlogs which capture the stunning scenery of Gmunden, a quaint resort town, and its surrounding areas. As well as vlogging, Sarah pens weekly recaps which provide insight into local life, popular tourist spots, scenic trails and advice on safely transporting pets overseas.

Ours began as the classic ex-pat story in 2012. Darling husband got an overseas post; I went from Working Spouse to Trailing Spouse. The children started planning where to spend their Fall Break, Winter Break, Ski Break, and Spring Break from the American School. Now, one of the children is about to graduate from Uni in America; and the younger one calls Vienna, Home. As for the Foxhound, to whom we promised a dog-friendly life after a 9 hour flight in a plastic crate (and made good on those promises), he has zero plans to return to the U.S. So here we are.

My blog is dedicated to my love affair with Austria and the region that was once referred to as the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It deals with the everyday moments that touch my heart. It chronicles the memories that time has created and the stories that have unfolded along the path of my life. This is my self-indulgent platform, a place for me to connect with other like-minded individuals, a vehicle to enable me to touch people's hearts near and far by sharing my romantic journey.

I just moved from Boulder, Colorado, to Vienna Austria, for a new job in science communication. This blog is about the new discoveries and day-to-day challenges of moving to a new city. The job is in English, the life in German
