Hello! My girlfriend and I are currently on our Asian adventure teaching in Gwangju, South Korea. We've been able to travel a bit throughout the year to places like Japan, Taiwan and Indonesia but we're just getting started so pop in and be a part of the excitement that is our everyday life away from the states!

Blogging since 2003 about life in Korea as a Filipino expat (who's married to a Korean, a mother to a preschooler and the youngest daughter-in-law) and a kpop/kdrama fan.

I grew up in Labrador, Canada. In 2006 I graduated from University In Newfoundland. Since 2006 I’ve been working as an ESL instructor in Korea. This site started as a blog. Eventually it grew into this site. In addition to the blog, I’ll be posting Korean and ‘Blatch’ recipes, there will also be a section forthcoming on hiking, and maybe even a tips page on moving to and living in the land of the morning calm. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm Chris Backe - like most foreigners in Korea, I teach English as a full-time job / source of income. When not teaching, however, I travel, write, and am otherwise exploring the dynamic society that is Korea.
