My experiences as a local expat

I recently moved back to my home country, India. I'd ended up being an expat for over a third of my life, living in two different continents, starting the journey while I was still in school. I have a feeling that I might continue to re-live the feeling of a fish out of water as I explore India anew as an adult. I love to travel, eat good food and you'll usually find me listening to music or curling up with a funny book.

English Wife, Indian Life

Since I was a little girl I had dreamt of going to India. The colours, traditions and spirituality of India have always enchanted me. I knew it was inevitable that I would visit India someday. I did not know that when my dream of going to India finally did come true, I would be going there to meet my in-laws, get married to my true love and see where I would be living for the rest of my life. I left my career as a pharmacist in England and followed my heart on a one-way ticket to India. The purpose of this blog is to share my experiences of Indian life, love and marriage. I hope documenting my journey can provide inspiration and information to those who are also in cross cultural relationships, anyone considering visiting/living in India and readers who are simply curious to see how an English wife adapts to an Indian life. The purpose of this blog is to share my experiences of Indian life, love and marriage. I hope documenting my journey can provide inspiration and information to those who are also in intercultural relationships, those with an interest in India and those who are curious to see how an English wife adapts to an Indian life.

Bombay Jules

Hello! As a UK expat living in Mumbai, I would like to share my experiences with anyone who is interested. Be it friends and family back home wanting to know how I am coping with the drastic change in culture, food and weather, potential or existing expats wanting to know where to go, what to eat and where to shop...or even my new Indian readers who want to know the rather too honest opinions of your latest British resident. Some things will disappoint, some things will delight. Please feel free to share your comments!

India on the need to know basis

I am creating this blog in order to help foreign nationals/expats who are currently staying in India and want to understand and live in tune with local culture and traditions. I suppose it should also be interesting for any lovers of India out there and for myself so that I can go back and check on info if something is forgotten.

How I New Delhi

Welcome. Here is the place where I keep track of the events of my relocation and adjustment to New Delhi, India. It’s a place where details are filtered through my perception; they pass through my heart and mind before I share them with you. You won’t find the truth here, but you will find my truth–or parts of it. It’s very intimate and flawed, and not very much like a well-written or informative travel magazine article. It’s a place where my loved-ones can see me stumble through a new life and feel bad for me when I suffer the consequences of a limited understanding of my surroundings mixed with my fears of the unknown, and then leave comments about how I’m doing a good job, or how shiny my face looks in India. Enjoy.
