Does anyone know about hiring a "remis" (spelling?) which I am told is like a private taxi for exploratory trips in the general area. If so, how would I find a reliable one? And I'd appreciate it if anyone knows the approximate cost per hour or day. Thanks!

I did find out the answer and they are way too expensive in my opinion - 5,000Gs per km.

Some normal taxis also do long distance, you arrange a price per kilometerwith the driver beforehand.
