Hi,
Just starting a thread on IPad or IPhone apps that help with life in Beijing. You would think that after being here for about a year I would have gathered a large number... but nope 
So far what I have found useful is:
Beijing Taxi Guide - Displays taxi card of a destination
China Drive - Study tool for the Beijing driving test
Translator software
myLangPro - Requires a data connection to translate phrases
Pleco - Another language translator program
Not sure if I like myLangPro or Pleco... both haven't helped me much.. I ended up purchasing a electronic translator for those times where my (not so strong) Chinese was inadequate.
Anyone else have some favorites they would like to share?

great Idea.
Explore Metro - for Beijing subway works great, it also has other cities.
wish I could find one for the Bus
Pleco is good also use DianHua Dictionary works well for sounding out words.
Thats all I found in the year I have been here

There is a very useful iPhone app to help you to get around. It is called Taxi-Book which gives you the English-Chinese translation of the address you want to go. You just need to show him the address displayed on the screen or use the inbuilt text-to-speech function to tell the Taxi driver where to go and he knows your destination without hassle.
