Seems there was a vote on New Caledonia becoming independent.
China is hovering around the Pacific with bundles of money. They have paid for a wharf in Luganville which seems to be the correct length to take Chinese warships !!
Chinese loans have a debt-equity swap clause so if Vanuatu or any other country defaults on payments the wharf or whatever will be taken over by the Chinese. They did exactly this in Sri Lanka at Hambantota wharf recently.
Trojan horse operations by China.
