Working in India

This topic is referring specifically to living in India on a tourist visa while working for a US-based business (no Indian locations/connections present).  It helps to have connections here in India.  Currently, I have a rental agreement between an Indian friend and the landlord (and I pay the landlord directly for that and utilities), I have my wifi dongle for my US phone vouched for by an Indian contact, and I pay my live-in-maid, all in INR.  I also have a neighbor who helps me with money transfers (even services like Money-Gram and Transfer-Wise seem to require the presence of an Indian person at the branch to claim money you send to YOURSELF!).

I am not doing work for any Indian company while here, since it is impossible for me to get an employment visa under present conditions (very low income category) because of minimum income requirements.
