Can anyone advise the process of converting a South African Drivers license to a Portuguese license. Is it necessary to do a test or do the accept the South African license without a driving test.

Following... 😉
Still no replies? Gee Graeme, it seems there aren't enough Saffas on here to answer your question... 😕
Have a talk at the local police station?
Could work 😉
Or maybe CNAI could help...
You can use your South African licence for 6 months, after which you must exchange it for a Portuguese licence. Details of the Portuguese licencing authority are:
IMT – Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes
Av. das Forças Armadas 40, 1649-022 Lisbon
Telephone: + 351 217 949 000
E-mail: [email protected]
Website: www.imt-ip.pt
It doesn't say whether you need to take another driving test, best to ask the IMT.
Hope this helps

Many thanks Cynic, A Portugal based colleague said that a retest isn't required but would be good to hear from someone who has been through the process

I haven't been through the process in Portugal, but have in many other countries; the info came from a reputable source.
