Retiring to ROI

I am a fair-skinned 60year-old Australian male who is interested in retiring to Ireland.  Firstly, to address the main question of "Why would I leave 'sunny Oz'?" well, being fair-skinned I am actually looking forward to Irish weather after a life-time of skin cancers and uncomfortable humidity.   But my main questions are (a) Where should I live?(Dublin too expensive) (2) Will language be a problem? (3) Is there anything in particular that I should be aware of before moving?  Thank You.

Recent ROI law has changed to make it much harder to immigrate to Ireland, especially retire there. In order to get a long term visa you need to have 250K euros in savings and you are not allowed to spend that money on anything, including real estate - it much just sit in a liquid account. you must also have an indefinite time income of 60K Euros.

Also, Ireland is soon going to institute 1) quotas, 2) age restrictions and 3) requirement to prove a "connection" to Ireland.
