Use of an Attorney to Purchase Property

Hello,

I have just started the process to buy a condominium in Playa del Carmen from the U.S. I am trying to decide whether I should hire my own attorney. I understand that hiring a notary is required and this individual will perform some of the duties that an attorney would normally perform in the U.S. My realtor does not believe I need my own attorney but I'm not surprised to hear the realtor say that.

Does anyone one have advise on whether I should hire my own attorney in addition to the notary that I'm required to hire?

Gracias, Esteban

Do! I've done 3 transactions thus far in Mexico. I would absolutely hire an experienced real estate attorney who is your advocate and can make sure the process being followed properly.

Thank you for the advice! It means a lot that you have gone through this process already 3 times.
