Expats are commonly asked for a photocopy of the id and visa pages of their passports and I was always asked for a surat domicili from my local RT but that could have changed

Best mention the Blue book as it makes things easier in process and also to understand.

As a rule most expats do not own vehicles rather partners etc do and so STNK renewals are done through them and or a friend.

If an STNK renewal is completed while the vehicle is under finance then the blue book is not available so it is wise to take the financing documents along with the original paperwork things.

Oh and the tax is more if you own more than one vehicle and continues to rise with the number under your name, so it is also very wise if you do own and sell on a bike or car that you instruct the buyer to update the ownership details in the blue book as otherwise it can cause problems when renewing something else.
