Hi ! Welcome to Expat.com and to China. I'm currently back in the USA, but from my experience, it is super easy to make friends in China. Yes, the locals will stare at you and talk about you ( trust me, as a 5'9" blonde/blue-eyed guy, everyone stared at me ! ) but only out of curiosity. Just learn a few basic Chinese phrases, smile alot, and appreciate the differences in culture. In no time you will have a handful of friends and then their friends will become friends of yours. So much more I can share, but that's a good start. Good luck and have fun ! --Robert
