Does a newborn need to register with SEF?

Hi everybody,

We are having a newborn in next few days. We talked with maternity admins and they will provide proof of birth and birth certification documents. We would like to know if we need to register our baby with SEF and when is the latest. We are in our second year here and still one more year before we renew our resident permissions.

I can't be 100% but in other countries like Austria, Germany, for instance, you do have to register your baby. I can only recommend you contact SEF, this LINK will take you their website contact form.

We contacted SEF and they informed that we need to contact their Call Center. We will try to call them. Last time, this took 15 minutes waiting for someone to pickup the phone. But this maybe the best option since an appointment takes months.
