Day care in Oslo for my daughter

Hi

I will be moving to Oslo in September with my two years old daughter. I heard that, if you miss the 15th August of magical deadline then you have to wait for one year to get a daycare! Is this the case of children who born in Norway?
Or I can also get the daycare in September or October?

You can still apply in hopes that a barnehage has a space, and there are also some in areas which don't have so many families that have space to offer rolling admissions.

Generally the application is March 1 for August spaces, and August 15 for the September/October places, but I do know people who've gotten their children in at other times. Applying outside this fixed time just means you're not guaranteed a space, but I suggest contacting the places around where you will be moving to find out what their situation is like.

Here's the official website for the barnehage system in Oslo:

Also, if you are on facebook, I recommend joining the international mother and baby group of Oslo (IMOBAGO), as there are lots of discussions on barnehage and finding spaces that you might find useful.

Thank you very much! I am relieved :)
