Best season to move to Ecuador

Hello,

Many expats choose to move to Ecuador at a specific time of the year, and we invite you to share some tips about the best seasons to move to the country.

What is the best season/time of the year to move to Ecuador, and why?

How do rent prices fluctuate based on the different seasons?

Is there a change in the job market depending on the seasons, such as job availability?

Are there any seasonal festivals or cultural events that would allow you to learn about the country?

What are the times of year to avoid for expatriation to Ecuador?

During which season did you move? How did it go?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

In the capital it's really only two seasons, rainy and dry-season. Both seasons are good, but one should be wary from of last week of November until a few days after New Year 's Day because there are a lot of holidays, fiestas and celebrations and even if they are not official holidays from personal experience a little gets done during that time in both public and private sectors.

It's a lovely time to come because of all the festivities but if your documents are nearing expiration then understand things will be slower.

Another noticeable period is late June until late August as there are hoards of returning Ecuadorian expats as well South American tourists who pack just about every restaurant, mall, and entertainment venue during such time.

As always, vsimple has excellent advice. Season doesn't make a huge difference in Ecuador, to be honest, but holiday celebrations make it hard to get things done. I haven't noticed any price variations when it comes to seasons, but hotels may increase prices for popular times like tres de noviembre (in Cuenca) or Chirstmas etc.

For most people, the key to successful immigration will be document "freshness", as certain documents can only be used within a prescribed amount of days from the print date. (Criminal record checks, marriage certificates and I'm sure there are more.)

We relocated in October, just to enjoy a second summer in our first year. (The "seasons" are reversed in South America.)

We are in Cuenca 8,250' up in a city of about 600,000 with about 5000 expats. We moved here in Aug which a was a little chilly because the apt we rented blew through the doors. I wouldn't worry about festivals etc they seem to be everyday. A lot of places shut in August for a week or two as that's our holiday season. Nobody comes here for a job unless it's very specialized. A lot of people work at online jobs. The season answer is largely irrelevant things don't fluctuate that much except hotels in the festival of the virgin. The only wrong time to move is when the airlines have embargo's. On the amount of luggage . Check airlines for that. Miami is where a lot flights come through. They have strict temp limits on animals
