Hello,
My wife and I, fit and active retirees, would regularly like to spend our English winters in and around Sydney. Does anyone have advice on where we could stay throughout January and February 2019? We're quite flexible and not fussy and would hope not to spend too much on accommodation. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions are welcome, thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You have picked peak holiday season so nothing is cheap accommodation wise then.
Anywhere on the Eastern seaboard is lovely but it is also hot and humid.
I would suggest Tasmania or look at central New South Wales if you are not beach oriented. Check out Airbnb or a good Google search will find such things as farm stays.
