Price for apartments for rent in Cusco, Peru

Why is it so hard to find info on available housing for rent and the cost of renting them in Cusco, Peru ?
I am researching a few places to move to from Thailand and like to find out the cost of 1-2 bedroom condo/apartment; American/European standard place to live. Need not be luxury but not a dump either. Clean and safe is important. Found a place advertised for $1200 (in Lima) and if that is average I need to scratch  Peru off my list. Was hoping for a decent place for $400 or less; is that in the ballpark ?
Also; is there anybody that has any info on Health insurance for a 65 y/o man ? Every time I search they want me to fill out a "basic info" form including Email and phone so they can bombard you with Emails and phone calls from allover the world for the next couple of months; not doing that again until I know where I am going for sure.
Thank you very much,
Paul

While there are not a lot of listings compared to other bigger cities, here's a link that has apartments for rent in Cusco, claiming over 1100 listings:

https://casas.mitula.pe/casas/alquiler- … ntos-cusco

You can find many more searching the internet for
peru cusco departamento alquiler

Also Locanto has apartments for rent, often these free listings are by the owners and not an agency:
https://cusco.locanto.com.pe/

Look under INMOBILIARIA and click on Departamentos en alquiler for apartments, Alquiler de habitaciones for rooms for rent.

OsageArcher,
Thank you very much for the info; very helpful. My Spanish is like 0; so hard to get all info but gives me a good guide what is out there and prices. Very helpful and it confirms there are places I be ok with for the price I was hoping for. If you come across English Rental sites please let me know but I will probably
be seeking owner or apartment complex direct to avoid realtors and fees their fees.

Are you familiar with what people are paying for good healthcare insurance in Peru. That also varies from person to person; age and existing conditions etc. and I realize that. You have an idea for a 65 y/o man from people you talk to; ballpark price ?

Thank You very much,
Paul

I do not have any familiarity with healthcare costs in Perú, sorry.

But this search for
peru costo seguro salud
may give you some idea, investigating the various sites:
https://www.google.com/search?ei=Kkb2Wv … gUH6od1m04

When using Google as the search engine, there is an option to "Translate this page" next to each link which may do a good enough job to be understandable.

This article lists some costs:
https://elcomercio.pe/economia/personal … tes-336076
But unfortunately it also says that private insurance may be obtained only up to the age of 65, and you probably would not qualify for the state-run insurances which may be open only to citizens of Perú.

However healthcare costs overall appear to be low, for instance the article gives the cost of one plan from Mapfre at about $370 USD (about 1200 Soles) per year per person.  Many expats in many countries find that just paying out of pocket for most medical procedures is do-able due to low cost and also generally gets you quicker and perhaps better service.

Hopefully someone who is more familiar with the healthcare availability for expats in Perú than I am will reply to this thread.

Thank you very much OsageArcher,
Great help; gives me a ball park what to expect. You have any suggestions where to stay short term after arriving while getting ones bearings and looking for a more permanent place ?
Thanks again

Although I have not used Airbnb many people give it high marks, for the variety of places to stay, the prices, and the chance to interact with and learn from your often native hosts:

Wow, very good
Good enough places to stay while looking for something more permanent .

Thanks again
