Hi,
I got into UNSW and I applied for the subclass 500 visa. I was wondering if income of parents is a valid financial aid. I read on the home affairs website that I could show income tax returns as proof. Could someone please confirm if these documents are still valid for this visa.

It would not be valid as it is not your money. May be a letter from them stating that they are prepared to offer full financial support would be acceptable.
Just be aware that if you get into financial trouble then they are fully responsible for this.

No need to update. The questions given on the forms are the one's you need to answer.
Giving additional questions would be confusing for some, they may then answer wrongly and get turned down.
I would email the authorities and ask for additional information
