Coming to Saigon soon

Hey guys. My name is Teneal Amy Marais, I am from South Africa and I am 26 years old.

I plan to come over to Vietnam mid June and will be looking to teach English as a Foreign Language. I do not have a Bachelors degree but I do have lots of volunteer experience working with kindergarten and elementary phase.

Are there ,any jobs available near District 7? As that is where I wold prefer to live. Or... where is best to find we paid teaching jobs?

Hello,

Because you are coming from a country where English is not the native language, you might have a little trouble finding the higher paying teaching jobs but don't worry too much. There are still a lot of places that will hire you and you will be paid much better than the average Vietnamese workers get paid here. Ho Chi Minh City is a very large city with a lot of English teaching jobs but you might need to teach in other districts, at least for a while until you get established.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your new adventure.

I'm pretty sure the list of native-English-speaking counties for the purpose of TEFL teaching includes US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. The British have been there for over 200 years.

No TEFL certificate may be another handicap. You can get one here.

The best place to find teaching jobs is on the Internet

You'll find some here on this site:
https://www.expat.com/en/jobs/asia/vietnam/

Also: http://vietnamteachingjobs.com

If you're on Facebook, search for "english teaching jobs in vietnam". You will find numerous groups where jobs are posted.

Also, nearly every school has their iwn FB page, so also search for "englishschool vietnam"

Once you arrive, you can go around and hand out your CV, of course. But network as much as possible beforehand and post your CV here on https://www.expat.com and other sites.

Kids classes is by far the largest market segment and the summer is the peak hiring time. If possible, you should try to arrive in May.

Oh! I stand corrected. Sorry about that.

I've seen people from the Philippines find work teaching ESL so I'm sure there are demands for people like yourself. Just keep an eye out for ads or drop by any English center and ask them if they're hiring. Lots of people I know are doing it that way.
