How to deal with stress when moving to Egypt

Moving abroad is no easy feat. Everyone has their own ways of dealing with stress, so we invite you to share some insights regarding this topic.

What are the main factors that contribute to stress when moving to Egypt (cultural adaptation, moving with family, administrative and bureaucratic issues, language differences, etc.)?

What activities would you recommend to help deal with this type of stress?

What are some techniques that have helped you deal with stress?

Is there a way to avoid being stressed out or anxious when moving to Egypt?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Moving to and living in Egypt can be very stressful and frustrating.  It seems to take more time to get everyday tasks accomplished than when living in other places. One big help is to figure out traffic patterns where you live and where you want to go.  Traffic in Cairo is tremendous! The least amount of traffic is on Friday mornings.  This is when I recommend going to the grocery store, Carrefour, Ikea, etc.  It's also a good time to jog, ride a bike, or anything else involving using the streets.  If you get lost or need help go into any pharmacy.  All pharmacies are required to have someone working that speaks English. Make sure to find ways to de-stress and to make time for yourself amidst the chaos.  ***
