Food truck business in Barcelona

Ok fellow expats. Finally got my business visa and coming to Barceona on Monday. I have already rented my flat and ready to begin my business venture.

I have been researching online for quite a time and keep on getting outdated information when it comes to food trucks or food vending on streets. No one seems to have any information when it comes to street vending. Of course I want to do everything legally, pay my taxes and so on. So if there is anyone who has information regarding how much it costs to buy a food truck, or if there is any company doing manufacturing, or even if there is a company renting out food carts as there is a lot in the States. For instance here, there are people who rent out food trucks for $400 a week with permit and licensing.

Anyways, hopefully there is someone out there who has some information that could help out. Thank you very much. Viva la Espana!

So given up of the phone repair idea?
So resources for you to read through.

BTW it is not 100% wise to say  Viva la Espana! when in Barcelona ;)

Hi,
There are quite a lot of food trucks here but only at private events. The legislation doesnt allow for food trucks to be on the streets as they see it as a problem for the many food restaurants in the city.
The food trucks are becoming more popular so hopefully that will change.
Just google food trucks Barcelona there are lots of links, sigaelfoodtruck is quite good, also Skull garage converts food trucks.
I hope that helps, good luck with your new venture.

Thanks for the response. So there aren't any food trucks on the streets selling food even now? Well that's not good. Hopefully they will change that law. Also do you know if I was to park my food truck on someone's parking lot and pay them rent will that be allowed as opposed to parking and selling on the steet?

Do you have all the proper qualifications to operate one? You might wish to get that all in order first, then look for a place to operate.

Hey,

I was just curious for an update.

Did you make it Barcelona safely?
How is the business going?
Did you stick with a food truck?
Were they right about food trucks not being able to be on the streets?

Thanks so much!

Stephen

So currently food trucks are not allowed on streets you say, what about espresso carts, not serving food ? Solely drinks?

I'm looking to start an espresso cart/mobile skate spot being a skater from new York and an espresso addict, I want to open a cart which has a small ramp and ledge which can be skated on, an idea which I think could make some ground in Barcelona's skate scene. Anyway! I'm interested in the process you went through to get your business visa? Was it difficult to obtain?

Thanks!
