Education and Schooling in Kuala Lumpur

Hi, my husband has just been offered a good job in Kuala Lumpur, we currently live in Scotland, UK and wondering how schooling works and how easy it would be to continue our 2 children's education - they are 11 and 13? Any advice would be gratefully received.

There are numerous international schools in and around KL. They will be fee paying.  The UK Cambridge syllabus is the most widely used in Malaysia for International schools. This website has some info: www.schooladvisor.my

A lot will depend on fees but there are some excellent schools including the British International School KL, which is popular and well reputed, alongside others.

Schools do have busing arrangements but it is good to check on this as well as to ask the schools of interest if they have vacant places in the required Years.

Days can be long for kids who are bused so living close to your hubby's job and the kids school will make life happier.

Many thanks for your reply, that is most helpful and has somewhat allayed some of my fears 😃

Hello. I would recommend BSKL, we moved  last year from Cambridge and my daughter settled well in secondary school here. They follow the same curriculum. My daughter continued her studies from where she left off in Cambridge.
Hope this helps . . .

Thank you for responses, wondering if someone can tell me when the new school year stars for 18/19 - is it Aug/Sep/Oct?

BIS is 27th August

Hi. Welcome to Malaysia.
I would recommend International School @ Parkcity or Garden International School, IGCSE and all of their teachers are an expat.

But it also depends on your convenience a few things that need to consider especially the location and the transport.
