Work permit type in malasyia

I am selected for one of the Malaysian bank for IT support work form one of the indian MNC .

i just want to know whether is it possible to attend interview for another employer while i am  working for that bank in Malaysia ?

If yes , 1) after how many months i can attend ?
            2) which type of work permit how should hold ? Is it employee pass ?

Please share your thoughts.

There are two types of employment pass.

One is classified under the Foreign Worker system. It has its own recruitment process and requirements, including a medical and a visa with reference (VDR) collected before departing the home country. The VDR is required to enter the country for work purposes.

The other is under the professional or knowledge worker categories. They are divided into Categories I, II and III.  The categories are based on the salary earned. Cat. III salary is RM2500-4999, Cat. II is RM5000-9999 and Cat. I is RM10,000 upwards.

The employer organises the employment pass and will be able to tell you which one they are going to use.

My salary is 6300 RMso I will be cmg cat 2 I guess.
One more Qs. Suppose if I wanna be attend  the interview for other employee , while working with current employee , this Cat 2 , employee pass will allow me to do that??

An EP is only valid to work in the company that has hired the worker and the company name is printed on the EP. 

To move jobs, the EP would need to be cancelled (i.e. shortened in validity) and the new company would need to apply for an EP under their company name and balance sheet.

Check the Offer Letter to see if there are any clauses about when, and if there is any penalty, to leave the company.

A rule of thumb would to be do at least one year before changing employer. This is because it costs companies money to hire foreign staff and they sometimes make it difficult for staff to get other jobs if they job hop. They can do this by not issuing a "No Objection Certificate" which is needed to move job.

For me , still the offer yet to released.

They have offered 6300 RM.but I am 5+ years experienced ETL developer ..is this salary is fine for my exp, according to the Malaysian market ?? Or low salary..

And also in this salary ( 6300 ) , how much I could save if I would living normal life

Its a bit low -  once you are tax resident you could save around RM 3000 depending on how much you pay for accommodation. But I am guessing it is a job through Emerio

And it's look like for 6 months it ll b 28 % of tax and afterwards it would be 8% and from 7th month onwards I can get my tax deduction for 28 % but I am not sure how much thy ll refund for that 28% .can u pls share ur thoughts ?

It is possible to get a repayment of the difference between the higher non-resident rate of 28% and the progressive rates used when tax resident.

The company should deduct the income tax monthly and pay it to LHDN who can then  review whether too much tax has been paid when you submit your annual tax return or when you change jobs or leave the country.

There are no government benefits for foreigners or expatriates. They are only made available to Malaysians

Being on an employment pass is seen as a temporary thing. Most companies here don't even offer a Pension scheme.

I think some people get the idea they are some sort of rare species coming to work in Malaysia. After they arrive they realise there is no special treatment or accolades handed out. If they are good at socialising they get on here, but if not it can be a bit of a lonely existence. Foreigners are definitely not held in high regard at all.

If i would hold EP , While changing the job to other company, whether I should come back India and need to Go back for new company or from there itself I would change the company ??

Changing jobs does not usually require leaving the country. But a new EP has to be applied for by the new employer with the same possibility it could be rejected.  An EP is linked to a particular job and company.

Entering on a Visa with Reference is necessary, to take up the first job offer, if a visa is ordinarily required. As long as there is continuity of employment the worker does not have to leave the country.  As mentioned earlier a No Objection Letter is required to change jobs during the validity period of an EP.

Contracts are viewed a bit differently in Malaysia so breaking one is only with agreement. This is also the case with rental contracts, unless there is a specific break clause, the tenant is responsible financially for the entire length of the agreement they signed.
