Lost Passport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

I have an adult son, in Ho Chi Minh City, who is currently trying to get emergency travel documents from our embassy to travel back to the US.  Anyone know the procedure and time line for this.  He has visited the embassy and filled out paperwork and is waiting on an email to return to the embassy after Washington DC State Dept gives the OK.  Problem is he is on medications that will run out in about a week if he isn't back in the States.  Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I can't help with advice on the passport issue, but meds can be delivered by DHS, FedEx, and others(?). Not cheap, but effective. I sent a small carton from Canada to HCMC and it cost me $60
Best of luck to your son.

Aidan

Have you considered if the medications that he takes are available in Vietnam?  There are plenty of reputable pharmacies around.
