Moving to tenerfie

Hello all, I'm Adele I'm 27 with a child who's 5 next week and In reception at the moment. We currently live in England and I am very interested in moving to Tenerife, and looking into the pros and cons of it all. Moving abroad is something I have wanted to do for a long time but understand it's not as easy as it may seem. I am here really just looking for advice as to where I would begin, when it comes to accommodation costs schooling, and health care etc. I currently work part time and receive working tax credit and help towards my rent. I understand I will have to work full time but would need hours to fit school etc as it's just me And my child. I would also ideally like to move asap possibly ready for the new school term in September so my child could start as I have read somewhere it's better to get them learning a new language as young as possible! Any advice would be highly appreciated on wether anyone thinks this is possible/worth it, thank you ! X

do you speak Spanish?

Hi rosalie I'm planning on moving as well from what I have read your child can go to a state school if you are a resident and pay taxes (working on the island) and Live in the area of the school you need to show your rental agreement and a document from the local town counciI I think you need to get your NIE card first to rent an apartment. If your child is in state you only pay for the books ☺️
If you decide to go the English school way from what I have researched they are pretty expensive - you can go a private Spanish school which you pay a small fee monthly and they learn English as well, (private Spanish schools that have a good name is Luther King) and Wingate (English) seems to be the go to for expats but is €2500 euro per term 😬😬 there is a smaller school for younger children in El sauzal but it's in the North of the island (from what I could see last time i visited expats tend to stay in the south) i will be checking out the north next time I visit as I am interested in Puerto de la cruz to live. As England is separating from the EU check to make sure if you need residency to live and work or not. Hope this helps ☺️

And also start learning Spanish it will help you a lot with finding work otherwise you might only be able to find jobs in the tourism field
