Free and low-cost leisure activities in Saudi Arabia

Hello,

We invite you to share some information regarding leisure activities that are free or low-cost in Saudi Arabia. This information will give future expats (or even current expats) an idea regarding some of leisure activities that they might not be aware of.

Is there a way to find out about free or low-cost fun activities in Saudi Arabia, such as a specific app, or a newsletter, or magazine, tourism board, etc.? How do you find out where events are organised?

What are the most common free leisure activities in Saudi Arabia?
Which free activities do you recommend for children, for teenagers, for adults, and for seniors?

Are there certain days where access to paid activities are offered at a lower price or even for free, such as museum entry, or exhibitions, or a theme park, etc.?

How do you maximise your leisure activities in the most cost-effective manner?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Hi,

There are quite few free or low cost activities in Saudi Arabia. One of the best app for getting good offers and discounts is the cobone.com and in Riyadh the sofari land in othaim malls provide almost very reasonable cost ride for kids. the band is i believe 50 riyals and the kids can enjoy any number of rides. other than that its the jazirah mall in Riyadh as well where you get coins when you do shopping and on top of the shopping mall is the play area where you can use these coins and it is really worth. You can also purchase extra coins at a very reasonable cost.

Priscilla,

Thanks for message.

Here in Saudi Arabia nothing much for leisure activity. As we are leaving in remote area we have to travel to city for weekend relaxation.

During weekend we are going to town for food and shopping only.

Hi Priscilla,

Apart from the sacred places in the kingdom there are many attractive places which can be worthy to visit during the stay especially in Riyadh;

National Museum - It consists of 10 galleries, courtyards and a section that houses fancy cars and other belongings of the founding king of Saudi Arabia.

Sky Bridge at Kingdom Tower - This is the best place to be visited located on the 99th floor of Kingdom Tower, the third tallest skyscraper in Riyadh is a 56-meter sky bridge where you can have a panoramic view of the city.

Al Safi - The world's largest integrated farm can be found on this desert land. Al Safi Dairy Farm in Al Kharj is a Guinness World Record holder with more than 50,000 cows.

Historical Diriyah - This UNESCO World Heritage Site should not be missed when visiting Riyadh. It was the original home of the Saudi Royal Family and the first Saudi capital.

Masmak Fort - It is located in downtown Riyadh a castle made of clay and mud-brick that once played a significant role in the Kingdom's history. It was where the recapture of Riyadh took place in 1902.

Moreover during dwell in Riyadh it can be fun with malls like Granada, Panorama, Sahara, Hayat and Riyadh Gallery etc.
