I am considering buying a property since I hold permanent residency in Brazil. My question is once I buy it what approximately are the taxes and hidden costs, and if I consider selling the flat in the future will be there any taxes ?

You will pay Capital Gains Tax, just as you would in the US.
Unless you chose to reinvest, wihtin a 6 month time frame, but this is applied mostly on Commercial Real Estate.
