My friends and I will be staying in HCMC district 1 area and I'm looking for information of where English speaking xpats hang out - socialize were I can obtain good local intel on clubs and activities in the area.

As a start, go to the Bui Vien - Pham Ngu Lao - Do Quang Dau Streets area in District 1. It's full of hotels, bars and restaurants and thousands of Westerners.

It will be a little bit warmer in HCMC than Alaska too.
Take a taxi to Thau Dien and the Beer Craft Bar, there's a few westerners get in there - as well as a good few Vietnamese. In fact there are craft beer bars in D1 too, Google is your friend, sage and mentor.
