What would be an adequate amount of funds, for a first time Expat moving to Ching Mai from the USA, to make the move? Why so? And, in your own personal experiences, what is the most expensive aspect of tge move?

The first thing you need to do is work out where you want to move to, and why you want to move there.
Then ask if there'a visa type to suit you.
If there is, can you work legally in that country?
Also look up the general cost of living - plenty of google time on that.
