health service for British citizens living in Poland

How can a British citizen living in Poland use Polish health service? I am retired. My wife is Polish. What health services are free in Poland if you are a British citizen living there with S1 form ? I am planning to move to Poland. NHS in UK informed I would have to sign S1 form. What does it entitle to in Poland ? Can it be used to register with GP ? What happens if I need diagnostic tests or a hospital treatment ? Will I have to pay for every visit to the doctor, every diagnostic test and hospital treatment ? How long does it take to get Polish National Security Number (PESEL) ? Any help and clarification will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Peter
