Paying bills in Jamaica

Hello everyone,

What bills do you pay? If you are renting, are bills included in the price of rent, and is this common practice in Jamaica?

How can you pay your bills (e.g. online, at provider's store, at the post office)? Which is the most convenient or reliable way?

With what frequency are different bills sent in Jamaica? Are there different deadlines for payment?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

BILL PAYMENT in Jamaica is quite similar to any first world country. Bills can be conveniently paid by cash at the vendor locations throughout the island, at authorised payment service centres or by one's debit/credit card online or mobile phone. Standard bills are generally due monthly and if paid before the due date a credit incentive valued in vendor dollars is applied as a cash payment to one's account. Just about anything can be paid online from the standard mortgage and utilities to now embassy application fees.  The pro's to online bill payment is it's fast, convenient, time saving and if you are smart you earn travel points that gives you free air travel to any destination you desire ( if you use a credit card associated with travel mileage points ).  The only con I can think of is one is no longer forced to join long time consuming lines interacting with people who are unhappy about paying a bill that they fell is too much.
