Planning to go to Puerto Rico in February 2018.

We have family in PR who are up in age. We're retired and decided to move there to help. Not sure what part of the island to settle in. It seems like old San Juan is up and running after hurricane Maria. Any suggestions on locations besides old San Juan? Our family lives all over the island. Also what to bring?

Hi Edy
Welcome to the forum and hope your trip to PR goes well.
As to what to bring?
Money is best, flaslights and a ton of batteries for them. Water is too heavy and does not go far. You may want to order clorine tablets and bring with you for those without potable water. They also have iodine tablets that do the same but water does not taste as good.
I can not tell you were to live, it depends on your income, your life style and your housing preference. Also how close or far you want to be from some family members. I assume you are familiar with the island.

We have friends in OSJ and they're all without electricity. Phone and data connections are spotty. They have water but most of the time not enough pressure to take a shower. Up and running? Not yet I'd say..
