Online shopping in Singapore

Hello everyone,

Shopping online can be far more convenient and offer greater choice than going into shops, be it grocery shopping or retail.

Are there options for online shopping in Singapore? Which sites or apps do you use most frequently and are these local or international?

Are there particular products that are cheaper to buy online or that are perhaps not available in Singapore?

What is the delivery process like — is it easy to receive deliveries and what are the costs of shipping? Are there any taxes to pay upon receipt?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Hi Pricilla,

I use Shopback before I open other website, and I get 0.5% cashback every time I shop.

I find that buying clothes and accessories are cheaper online than in Singapore. Other than that, it's better to buy here. I always choose websites that offers free shipping, so I don't spend on that front. There's no tax for clothes and accessories bought online.

Hi Priscilla,

I use proxy and consignment services such as ezbuy or zenmarket to get goods from China, USA and Japan.

I usually buy toys because the toys market here is very limited and very very expensive (the mark up is really high). It's much cheaper overall to just buy them directly from websites, which unfortunately rarely able to send the goods overseas.

Unless I'm buying t-shirts, I don't buy clothes online as I need to see the fitting. Same with shoes. Most of the accessories bought online tarnished like crazy, so I prefer to buy it in person and check if the materials are good and if there's guarantee or free repair/cleaning services.
