If it's a Professional Employment Pass the current time being quoted is 1-2 months for complete approval process.
Nationals who require a visa need to apply for a Visa with Reference (VDR) before entering Malaysia, which is why their process may take the maximum time. Applying for the VDR at the same time as the EP is the most efficient.
Sometimes the process is quicker if all the paperwork is correct and the procedures required from the employer have been followed properly e.g. advertising the job for local candidates to apply.
