Sudan's most expensive cities

Hello everyone,

What are the most expensive cities to live in Sudan? What are the costs of things such as rent, utilities, weekly groceries, dining out, etc.?

What is the lifestyle like in these cities, for expats and locals?

What are the different neighbourhoods like? Are there more affordable areas?

Do you have any experience living in any of Sudan's most expensive cities? What was it like?

Which cities in Sudan would you recommend? Are there any that offer particularly good value for money when it comes to cost of living?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Have yet to move to Sudan but will be doing so mid-October, so would be interested in the comments of others.

Most expensive City would be khartoum the capital because all people from other states come to find work, live, study etc because Gov didnt develop other states. For example rent in Khartoum is usually 400 to 600$, while rent in Port Sudan a sea city is not more than 100-300$, rent may be different to foreigners if i may add.

If your getting your salary in USD then Sudan is very cheap one USD now is 22 SDG (black market price, Bank price is 15.9 while custom USD is 6 ) while in 2010 1 USD was 2 SDG, so paying for goods shouldnt cost much, you will have hard time if your salary is low & your paid in SDG so try to always ask to receive USD cash or to ask your employer to usd black market price ( almost everyone is using).
