Residency in Uruguay

Hi,

I am Financial Executive, residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from last 8 years.

I am Planing to move to Uruguay with my family (Wife + 3 Sons).

I can get Uruguay Tourist Visa from Uruguay Embassy in Saudi Arabia, we are Pakistani Nationals.

I want to ask, what document i have to provide after arriving in Uruguay for financial support in my Uruguay residency request.

At the time of residency, i will not have my Saudi Job, as i will resign before moving to Uruguay.

I have below documents ready.
1- Birth Certificate
2- Marriage Certificate
3- Criminal Clearing Certificate (From Pakistan & Saudi Arabia Both countries)
4- Passports & Identity Cards from Pakistan (All Family)

Appreciating, if some one can help me.

Here's a Uruguay government page with requirements for legal residence:
https://tramites.gub.uy/ampliados?id=2599

I suggest you get in touch with them.  You will most likely need to read and write Spanish, and perhaps speak it well also, to be able to understand and navigate the requirements, even if you get an Uruguay immigration specialist or lawyer to help you.

Several other links that may help (several are pages from the Uruguayan Consulate in Spain but still give general requirements and procedures):

Generally it appears that for residence, you must have already an offer of employment, and/or sufficient verifiable monthly income or investment funds to qualify.  Most countries including Uruguay do not encourage or allow foreigners to reside there unless they have at least some minimum amount of verifiable means of support.

Apparently Uruguay is overwhelmed with residency requests from foreigners so it may be difficult to get timely answers if at all, especially if you are not a Mercosur resident and do not speak Spanish:

Here are several links for law firms that may be able to help:

Dear Friends,

Actually acquiring permanent residency status in Uruguay is rather transparent.

Here is a current link, albeit in Spanish, for those considering it.

Contrary to the assumptions of many, a lawyer is truly not needed.  If you cannot speak Spanish, you will need an interpreter.

Everything is done through Migraciones in Montevideo and all things, after the first visit, are done by appointment.  And while it is true that Uruguay is currently experiencing the largest migratory wave of the last 100 years, Migraciones is still managing to cope.

But before you drop in to Migraciones, you must have a clear idea of what category you will fall into because status is regularised according to claimed category, i.e., retiree, pensioner, employment, marriage, etc.  If you claim the wrong category, chances of rejection are relatively high.

Here is the link.  If after having read the link you have further questions, just drop a line here.
