16th/17th March: Torino celebrates Italy's birthday!
I guess a longer presentation of the event would be appreciated 
Right.
In all the central squares of the city will be held public parties, with music concerts.
The main venue is Piazza Vittorio (in front of the Po River): there's a concert of italian famous singers (Vecchioni, Siria) and from midnight the fireworks.
All the museums will remain open till midnight with free entrance.
All the shops bars pubs etc will be open till early morning...
