Iran is one of those nations that are more restricted than western governments. You just need careful about a series of things that mentioned in the following.

One of things you should be careful about it is Hijab; if you are a woman, you just need   have a scarf, at least a long blouse and a pants with yourself.
Every country has crime. Violent crime against foreigners is extremely rare in Iran.
If you want to take photos, it is a good idea to ask permission.

Some countries get a bad name because of propaganda and not a lot else.
You might have noticed the bad news stories about Iran have pretty much stopped now except from some right wing groups and countries with political interests.
Iran is a place I'd love to visit for the culture, history and food - Sadly I'm unlikely to ever make it but I live in hope.

My advice to anyone thinking of visiting - look at the negative stuff and see how true it actually is. Let's say the stories don't stand up to a lot of investigation.

Iran is super safe to travel to and has many beautiful destinations. I have lived in Tehran for 3 years now and honestly I often feel more safe here than in the states (I'm from Michigan). Shiraz is a must see!!

There are some negative things here in Tehran especially just as there is in any big city- traffic and pollution from the traffic, pick-pockets etc. But safety is not something you should fret about.

Whether you travel alone or in a group, whether you are a woman or a man, Iran is very safe. Iran is also the country of warm hospitality, I say, book your ticket now.

Sad as it is, Iran is now the bad boy of the middle east, at least in the opinions of some well know people.
However, as I mentioned before, it's always a good idea to avoid political propaganda and decide on facts.
Best I can tell, unless you're into political activism or other pointless rubbish, it looks a lot like Iran is safe for travellers.

Iran government is different with Iranian people. forget about government , Iranian are very hospitable and kind and open-mind people, they are very fun-loving and nice, I suggest you to visit Iran if you want to know about them.

The Iranians I've met have been pretty decent people
