If I am granted a multi-exit/re-entry visa, valid for 6 months, how long can I stay out of KSA on a trip? I will have to return to the US for work for 3 months shortly after my iqama is issued. Will there be problems when I re-enter?

You can stay out of KSA for a period equivalent to the validity of your exit/re-entry Visa !!
