Is it complicated to make friends in New Delhi?

What would you recommend to people who would like to live in New Delhi?

Thanks in advance for your participation

Hello,

Delhi can be complicated, now that the business units are shifting rapidly to Gurgaon, I lived in Delhi 7 years earlier and have come back recently to my home town, this is where i was born, but i feel like such a stranger cause, everything has changed... although for good

As a local, i find it hard to make friends specially with people my age, cause its unusual for locals here to be unmarried and single in their 30's

So i hang around with my nephew and work colleagues as of now, i do have the age difference, but at least i have someone to chat with...

women my age are either married and have kids or are working so its impossible for me to make friends as they follow the orthodox indian lifestyle as soon as they get married, and they act as if they never had any male friends!

I do have a  few expat friends my age now, but because of work schedules i meet em maybe once a month... or we just post messages cause their expat bf's or indian bf's somehow keep poisoning their head with stuff like ... every local is a weirdo here or something.... (i simply remind them of the streets they came from)

with work, yeah its hard to change jobs here if you are on top of the ladder so the best is to socialise, although if you are a fresher or intern then there are plenty of opportunities

The best things following the change are:
people are much more open minded... i can see a more open and friendly next generation

In India we all are expats, every 100 kms the language/ food/ fashion ... everything is different, and i see more people settling down here from all over the world

The corporate culture has certainly changed from trying to make you into a slave to understanding employee rights and the salary hikes are according to the inflation

There isint much of a electricity problem (thank god) i hated those 4-5 hours without electricity and spending the time with a 1000 mosquitos : PPP

There are tons of new pubs, restaurants, clubs, i just love this place now : )

Ciao

i had a terible experience in delhi.
i wanted to travel to punjab by bus so after intial inquiry by a canadian indian bus lone, iwas directed to get a bus from delhi airport.
when we went there we were told there is no such thing @the airport.we rang the company who told us to go to raddison hotel nearby to board abus to punjab.instead we were hounded by the private taxi drivers who wanted to take us to punjab by charging thousands of rupees. it was horrible.
to our horror no such thing existed there either.
after such poor direction of the inquiry we could not go anywhere.
it was waste of time not to mention the frustation.
i would like to share my experience so that others do not fall in this trap
