Hi ShijinaAmjath,

I see far too many probables in your post above.

How would you get a dependent visa, when your husband is not already a registered employee in Oman ? So as whose dependent would you be considered then ?

If you are under 18 years of age, and unmarried, and if your father is still employed in Oman, then you could be a dependent. Otherwise, no.

You are planning to enter Oman on a visit visa. And then start looking around for a suitable job. And your husband would be able to come only by next year. On what visa ?Visit visa ?

So you come first. You get a job. Then your husband comes next. And then he gets a job. That's the idea right ?

To get a general idea about the various issues involved with expatriate females' employment prospects, please read about it in the forum. There are enough and more detailed discussions and exchanges of information on that topic.

It just might open our eyes to the reality of the situation.

Thanks a lot  sumitran.
My husband would come in a job visa hopefully next year.
I don't had much idea about the difference between working on dependent visa and job visa.
I thought we will be able to do a job on dependent visa.
Now I went through your replies in other posts and understood that even if we are on dependent visa when we get a new job we need to change to the job visa and the company is our sponsor then.
Is it so .?

Sponsoring to expat ladies is a challenge to many companies in Oman. It is not like UAE, where you come on visit visa in Dubai or Abu Dhabi and start searching, it won't work here. Hence, plan in advance. Please don't think i am discouraging you, the fact is that getting an employment visa for ladies is not easy in Oman at this point of time leave alone the job market and current market conditions.

Hi ShijinaAmjath,

The above statement is indeed absolutely correct.

To clarify further, let me categorically state that for any expatriate (be it male, or female) to be employed, a 2-year employment visa is mandatory. And the person can only work with the sponsor / organsiation which has provided the sponsorship for that expatriate.

If someone is on a dependent visa and manages to find employment, then the lady has to get herself removed from the dependent visa status from her husband and must remain on her employer's employment visa status only, until the period of employment.

Thanks varad and Sumitran.
Recently I read an article that states if a company is giving NOC to a person then that company will lose the clearance and they have to give job to an Omani national.
Is it true...?

Hii Everyone...

Based on the above discussion I had a query to ask.. I am on a dependent visa at the moment and I have recently been offered a job as an ' English language teacher and IELTS trainer'  with a new language institute in Muscat. This institute is still not functioning meaning If i accept this offer I would be one of the first few employees.
This institute is a family run organisation and since its in the budding stage, they are yet to have any PRO employed. All they told me was to get an NOC from my husband's company.  I want to know the actual process of the new work visa application before I plunge into it.

Thanks

Megha

Hi, I am planning to join as Specialist Doctor in Oman along with my family. I have heard they provide Family Visa in the above job.
1. So in that case she will be on dependent visa right?
2. Since she is also a Doctor, she will search for the job while in Muscat and then change from dependent to Employment/ Job visa?

Yes. Once she finds a job; it's easy to cancel dependant visa & change to a job visa 🤗
