Festivals in Dominican Republic

Hello everyone,

What are the main festivals in Dominican Republic? Are there art, food, music, film, or other festivals expats can attend and participate in?

When do the festivals take place? How long does each festival usually last?

What activities go on during the festival? Is it necessary to buy tickets?

Are there any other events that take place in Dominican Republic that shouldn't be missed?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Dates change. Details change. Locations change. I dont have time to detail all that!!!

Along with thise mentioned ... each town has their " patronales" which they honor the patron saint of that town .. HUGE party . Also before Lent there is a big folklore carnival ( similaie to Mardi Gras) in La Vega

That would be carnaval in La Vega. That is the biggest and maybe best in the country.

Better than Mardi Gras sounds amazing! We are from New Orleans,  La., moving to Cabarete in less than a week. We are stoked,  and can't wait to attend some gatherings.

Also,  does anyone know if it's less costly to purchase art work in the area than bringing my own and framing it there?

Thanks in advance for any help.

welcome to the forums.  Art is subjective.  You may not like what is available here. Either way you will be framing it. Bring some and buy some!
