Festivals in Bulgaria

Hello everyone,

What are the main festivals in Bulgaria? Are there art, food, music, film, or other festivals expats can attend and participate in?

When do the festivals take place? How long does each festival usually last?

What activities go on during the festival? Is it necessary to buy tickets?

Are there any other events that take place in Bulgaria that shouldn't be missed?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

A little bump, i also like to know where i can find  the interesting festivals in Bulgaria.

The following site give some information about holidays and festivals in 2017/2018: https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/bulgaria/festivals

There are quite a few interesting festivals coming up. Recently we went to 'Electric Orpheus' and they have a third edition this September: http://electricorpheus.com/fest/electri … mber-2017/

It is located on a hill in the middle of a vineyard with very beautiful surroundings.. The atmosphere was really pleasant, not overcrowded and very easy going. The food was good too :-) Tickets are 20 leva and can be bought at the gate..

Another festival we will be trying this year is the Berkovitsa Art Festival: http://artfestberkovitsa.com/wp/

They haven't published the programme yet but the location looks great! Entrance is free..
