Permanent residency's and id book's

hello, i was wondering if anyone could help with some info, i left sa about 25 years ok, as my parents returned back to the uk. (have been back though on trips)

we (myself, hubby and kids) would like to move back to Durban for a couple of years of poss more) my question is would my residency and id book still be valid? i would obviously have to change my name as i have married. if yes how easy would it be for my husband to obtain them both because without them he is finding it hard looking for work whilst here in the UK.
i should point out, that i am a britsh citizen and don't hold a south African passport.

thankyou.

Hi

The first step would be for you to contact the SA High Commission and enquire if your Permanent Residency status is still valid. If so, then your husband can apply for a Spousal Permit. For information about that you can refer to my post https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=43808 .

The post related to "Life Partner" Permits, however the same applies to Spousal Permits.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the advice :)
