Hi, is there any law concerning installation of dashcams on private cars?

I passed an interesting looking military type vehicle parked on the road and I said to my Saudi boss driving that in the UK, most people would take a photograph. I said what would happen here? He said that he would probably not see me for a month!
Have a look to see how many dash-cams there are. They are very useful in the UK where there is a lot of insurance fraud.
Interesting question though.
