Hello,
I am moving in few weeks to Romania from US and I was thinking about taking my wife's car. Does anyone knows how to do it tax and duty free?
Is it a big hassle with custom clearance?

Registering a car alone, even a local one, or importing from another EU country, can be a big hassle. Personally, I wouldn't bother considering bringing a car from the USA to Romania, with transportation costs, tax, customs, RAR inspection/authorization and possible conversion, it can cost thousands!
Why do you think it would be tax and duty free?

I am returning EU citizen. According to EU law everyone returning from outside EU can bring all his belongings including car, tax and customs free.
