Teaching work in saigon for a qualified and experienced teacher

why is it so hard for me to get work in learning centre in HCMC?

I am trained teacher from Australia. Majored in Education and english.
A native speaker.
And I have more than 5 years of teaching experience.

I find that everyone I know has a job in a centre and has little to no qualifications at all.

I dont have a tefl or celta. But I am hesistant to get one until later on. Money is a bit of an issue.

Why do centres hire people with no qualifications and overlook me?

so frustrated.

Most centers want to hire somebody with a neutral American accent.

If your accent is strong, that might be why.

Lots of reasons.

June is not the best time to look.
Just how many jobs have you applied for? Twenty should be enough to get hired.
A lot of employers don't really want a teacher, they want a clown to entertain the kids, a happy, healthy, fresh white face to get the parents to part with their money.
Getting the first job is difficult.

Age can be a factor as in if your older than the interviewer.

Dress for the job- big shoes, orange wig, big red nose, whoopie cushion down your pants. Just kidding. A sense of humour is important.

If you're serious about teaching then get a TEFL of some sort or go to Korea where the degree is sufficient. You'll get a salary and benefits there.
