Hi Friends,

I'm looking to move to Nordrhein Westfalen. There are several cities and towns in the area that are within good commute of my future place of work in Gelsenkirchen. Just wondering- are there any areas that are more fun and convenient? Areas I should avoid?
I'm looking for a neighborhood with a good feel- close to parks as well as easy transportation into a bigger city like Essen, Dusseldorf or Dortmund.

Recommendations? (Feel free to also expand on any things you've learned about the local venues or social groups). Thank you!

Sorry, I am not familiar with the area (and, since nobody else replied, this seems to apply to other readers, too).
Maybe you can visit and have a look at the areas and cities in question? That is certainly worth more than second hand information from the Internet.
